Corporate Immunity

The below occurrence is a sample of how dubious corporations function in the US forming these business to operate as minimally as possible to receive the most money while embarking on moral lines. The sole purpose of these kinds of corporations is to generate the maximum income with the least amount of service. May it be a service or product these kinds of corporations are a facade hiding behind layers of obstacles to wear the consumer down if they protest.  I should have been leery of a corporation that was formed to go around the country buying up individual emergence veterinary hospitals. The purpose of such a chain is to make as much money off of people’s emotions in a time crisis. Others corporations may use fear to intimate you or some just don’t even care as the car companies have shown us. The individual consumer in this country has very little recourse against corporations like these. Cable Companies, phone companies and insurance company purposely have layers of employees that you have to work through, hoping that these obstacles wear you out; till you finally just quit if you have a complaint.  They even now have hidden agreements in your contract to force you into aberration so you can’t sue them which usually sides in their favor. I have dedicated these painting to the “‘victim” that was used for monetary gains from one of these types of corporations.  The so called emergency  veterinary hospital knowingly work off  emotions of people in a crisis to extort as much money out of them under the veil that they are going to save your pet “ at their convenience.” Even if they know that the animal does not have much of a chance to survive

An instance

Emergency: “an unforeseen combination of circumstances or the resulting state that calls for immediate action.

If this was a real emergency care hospital that I went too, the oncologist should have been notified Friday evening when I brought my pet in. Her clinical appearance showed evidence that she was in distress having hard time breathing. She was showing clinical signs of “lymphoma.” A cytology specimen should have been taken from my dog and it should have been processed in-house. The oncologist should have come in Saturday morning to read the slides and evaluate my dog in person. I should have been given a prognosis of her physical condition. I should have been given, options, statistics and percentage of her chance of recovery because of the state she was in. Then I could have made an informed decision “Saturday.” All that should have happened. Not “Tuesday” morning after the doctor’s vacation. The veterinary hospital Blue Duds advertises that they are a 24 hour emergency care facility; but afterhours, weekends, and holidays, they operate under inexperienced doctors that are not qualified to help a client to make an informed decision. As a consequence, if you need real help with your animal that is in a critical state as I did on a holiday weekend you will be blackmailed into financing them to keep your pet stabilized until the specialists come in after their vacation Tuesday  to receive proper care and give you an informed decision. They charge full price for intensive care when in all practicality they are just keeping the pet alive till the vacation is over for the specialty doctors, putting my dog and I under emotional distress. They don’t even process their cytology specimens in house. My dog’s specimen was sent out of state to be processed in a lab they use. Then the slides where sent back to lab’s “office” in Blue Duds building where the lab’s pathologist read the slides. This is what the “Stark law” stopped with human labs because it’s a form of a kick back.  The dog did not make it after 6 days their and 48 hours home, which was very emotional and stressful for her and me, costing $6000.00. I kept asking all weekend for help to give me a prognosis but was told all kinds of different answers even saying they could not help me make a decision to put the dog down. I can’t think of any veterinary in the past that did not help me make that decision.                                                                                                                               When I tried to ask for a break on the bill since the dog was going to die and not have taken 6 days to get an informed decision if they were really operating full service on the weekend/ holiday they refused.  So I took them to small claims court to try to get relief on the bill, but they had it removed out of there, so they could have a lawyer intimidate me into dropping the suit. Stating during a mediation meeting, that  “Blue Dud” is a multimillion corporation and they will not pay a penny and that they did nothing wrong.” And if I pursue to trial they would disrupt my life for a year.” I realize that they did not do anything “illegal” since there are no regulations for these veterinary hospitals to have to adhere to. Their hospital is deceptive as with the practice of getting financial incentive from the lab they use. It should not take 6 days and $6000.00 and a dead dog if they really were an emergency critical care hospital on weekends and holidays to get an informed decision. If they actually were a full service emergency care hospital this should have been resolve in 24 to 48 hours .But veterinary hospitals don’t have to be inspected or accredited and it is legal for vets to get incentives from labs so places like this can take advantage of pet owners. There are some moral and deceptive practices in question here that need to be addressed. The ethics board could not take my case since I did not have personal contact with the oncology doctor. The staff used the phone to communicate with her over the vacation weekend.

Note: Blue Dud is a national chain owned by a DVM in FL. I went to the Blue Dud in MI.

Also, when leaving the mediation room their lawyer turned to me and said I should be grateful that it was only $6000.00 I lost.
